Unfortunately, there are risks associated with the use of VR (Virtual Reality). Some of the risks are fairly obvious: bumping into walls, entering the station when someone else is using the equipment, etc. Other risks are not so obvious and may either be latent in their effects (for example, vision impairment) or may trigger dizziness, nausea or even a seizure. The fact is, the technology is so new that health and safety research needs to catch up with it.

Because of the risks associated with the use of VR, Play It VR requires that a waiver is signed prior to using our equipment.

A LIST OF POTENTIAL ISSUES THAT YOU MAY BE AFFECTED BY. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY AND CONSIDER HOW THEY MAY AFFECT YOU BEFORE SIGNING THIS WAIVER AND ENTERING VIRTUAL REALITY.

• Eye strain.
• High volumes in the headphones (There is a volume control).
• Flickering screens and flashing images which could trigger underlying health conditions.
• Motion sickness.
• Equipment may affect some medical devices such as cardiac pacemakers etc.
• The equipment and media content of some experiences may affect those with pre-existing medical or mental health conditions.
• It is possible to feel claustrophobia, panic, or other phobias.
• Feelings of disorientation may be felt at the end of the experience.

Please stop use of the VR equipment if you feel any discomfort whatsoever.

BY USING ONE OF PLAY IT VR’s VIRTUAL REALITY HEADSETS YOU ARE INDICATING YOUR ACCEPTANCE OF THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THIS AGREEMENT.

1. I accept that I am solely responsible for my decision to use the VR equipment;

2. I recognise and understand that the use of a VR headset involves certain risks. These may include but are not limited to, physical or psychological injury, pain, suffering, temporary or permanent disability, economic or emotional loss, and death. I assume all of the physical, psychological, and financial risks associated with use of VR equipment;

3. I acknowledge that I am voluntarily giving up substantial legal rights, including the right to sue Play It VR Ltd or its employees;

4. I accept that Play It VR may use photographs and/or videos containing my image on marketing materials and online for promotion purposes, including posting to Play It VR’s website and social media, including YouTube;

5. I agree to pay for any breakages or damage to the VR equipment or facilities provided at Play It VR that I have caused. 

By signing, I acknowledge that I have read and understood the above information and agree to Play It VR’s terms and conditions.

I confirm that I am 16 years of age or over and legally competent to sign this certificate and that I have acquired the written consent of my parent or guardian as appropriate.

If participant is aged 15 or under, a parent or guardian of 18 years or older must sign on their behalf assuming all responsibility.
